By sunkissed horizons and painted clouds
They keep my feet rooted to the ground
While my mind melts into the sky
I am here
I am there
I am now
Lights begin to whisper below
In a reflecting concrete pool
They are fireflies looking for their homes
I drift down the canyon like a paper airplane
My imperfections lead me on an unmarked path
I wonder what’s written on this page
Is it the song I keep humming?
Is it the desires I am not ready to read?
Does it say that I’m good enough?
Does it say I am ready to write on a new page?
Even if I don’t look
The words I write now tell me the same thing
There’s a fire under my throat
And the smoke signals will rise when I beat my chest
They will project the next sunrise
They will reflect the sun’s last breath
And echo through the dark
